Empower Occupational Therapy believe that each child has potential that can be reached and grown through positive experience and activity.

We provide friendly specialised motor-sensory assessments and treatment, placing the child’s needs at the centre of the process. Understanding that children have a unique motor, sensory and emotional make-up is key in unlocking their potential and promoting performance, participation and wellbeing.

Building and growing confidence and self-esteem is a central focus throughout our therapy process. We are dedicated to empowering parents and children to strive for better outcomes at home, at school and in the community.

What to expect?

A bespoke, positive and friendly therapy process.

Information Gathering

We are passionate about enhancing a child’s confidence, therefore we take care to gather information prior to assessment. Questionnaires and telephone communications will ensure minimal discussion ‘about the child in front of the child’.

We can liaise with other services, education and health to gain relevant information with your consent.

Assessment

Our assessment process is thorough ensuring we gain a clear understanding of your child. We provide a relaxed and fun experience using play along with a range of assessment approaches.

Review assessments examine the progress and development your child has made. Additional recommendations and practical strategies are provided to further support development of skills.

Reporting

Detailed reports provide a wealth of information, highlighting strengths and capabilities to aid skill development in areas of challenge. Recommendations and activity suggestions will empower you to fully support your child.

Parent-Therapist consults provide information specific to your child, along with discussion, exploring practical strategies and a follow up summary email.

Treatment

Our fun treatment sessions use play as a therapy tool to build skills and promote achievement and self-belief. When engaged and motivated in activity a child will learn and develop skills. We take time to build individual treatment goals, which are guided by our assessments, the child’s interests and parent aspirations.

Each session will provide an informative explanation and overview of activities completed, and tailored home activities to further engage your child.

What our clients say...

Our time with Empower Occupational Therapy has significantly benefited our son’s both fine and gross motor skills and we would highly recommend their service to others in developing a tailored flexible programme which will help.

Rebecca Neill

Rebecca has worked with young people and adults with additional support needs since leaving secondary school, finding a passion to help others reach the best of their ability through a career in Occupational Therapy.

Special interests lie in sensory and motor difficulties, such as dyspraxia, poor motor skills and sensory processing difficulties, which hinder a child’s participation, performance and self esteem.

Rebecca has a strong belief that a person’s ability is not fixed and can be grown to further achieve in their chosen activities. She is motivated and dedicated to supporting families to strive for better outcomes.
